Arthur Reynolds Helps PFC Bert Rutan to an Aid Station

Private First Class Bert Rutan of Company C, First Battalion, 27th Regiment, Fifth Marine Division is helped to a medical station by Arthur Reynolds. Landing on the first day, Rutan was spotting for a M4 Sherman tank south of Motoyama Airfield #1 when he was hit in the jaw and throat. He received the Silver Star for his actions. He spent two weeks in Guam recovering and then opted to return to his unit at Camp Tarawa on Hawaii. He was a pastor at the University Congregational Church in Seattle after the war.
