While this aircraft was on a war bond drive in the United States and Canada, people wrote or scratched graffiti all over the aircraft. This close up shows the original color of the paint and you can faintly see some of the scratchings people left during their visit. In 1998 when IWM Duxford was resotring this aircraft, they decided to leave half of the aircraft unrestored to preserve this history. | |
