HMS Belfast has four oil-fired Admiralty 3-drum boilers, which boiled water up to 600 pounds per square inch (4,200 kilograms per square meter) to drive four Parsons reduction geared turbines driving four shafts. In other words, Belfast burned oil that made steam that was really hot and moved fast, and the steam turned turbines with big gears that increased the torque on the four driveshafts connected to the propellers that moved the ship. Note 4-inch QF secondary gun mounts.
