TA719, a film star (in the movies 633 Squadron and Mosquito Squadron) served as a target tug until 1956. The Mosquito is one of my favorite planes. The design almost never left the drawing board because of a lack of metal for construction. The plane survived because of its mostly wood laminated construction. Nicknamed the "Wooden Wonder" it served as a pathfinder, anti-shipping, and even as a fighter. Its high speed was a record for a time. There were many different variants with many different weapons packages in both fighter and bomber configurations.
