Small craft move to assist USS West Virginia (BB-48). USS Tennessee (BB-43) is alongside. West Virginia has a slight list from two bombs and at least seven torpedoes along her port side. Additionally, a bomb penetrated the 4-inch (10.1-centimeter) armor of Turret Three. The Vought OS2U Kingfishers on top of Turret Three caught on fire, and there were flames all around the turret top. Note the wreckage atop Turret Three. | |
