The Schwimmwagen (swimming car) 166 was capable of fording lakes or rivers, using a screw drive on the rear of the car‘s fuselage (hull.) It was based on the Kss∫belwagen, also made by Volkswagen. Essentially it was a VW Beelte that could swim. Over 15,000 were built. | |
