PB4Y-2 with SWOD Mark 9 “Bat“ Bombs

Image Information
United States Navy PB4Y-2 Privateer with SWOD Mark 9 Mod 1 “Bat“ guided glide bombs. Like its namesake, the “Bat“ sent out radar signals and guided itself to the target. It was combat ready in May 1945, and saw limited use against Japanese ships. Close to land the “Bat“ could be easily confused by radar reflections off of mountains or buildings.
