Aichi D3A Shot Down Over Pearl Harbor

Aichi D3A1 Type 99 Carrier Bomber Model 11 (kanji bakugekiki, shortened to kanbaku – “carrier dive bomber“; later in 1942, Allied code named “Val“) begins to break up over Pearl Harbor. One D3A was lost in the first wave and fourteen in the second. The Japanese lost Fifty-five aircrew and nine submariners were killed in the attack.
